그런, 5G/NR에는 PHICH 및 PCFICH가 필요하지 않다.
PHICH는 업링크 재전송을 위해 사용되었고, synchronous hybrid-ARQ protocol의 사용에 연관되어 있었다. 그러나 NR hybrid-ARQ protocol은 업링크 및 다운링크 모두에서 asynchronous하다. 따라서 PHICH는 NR에서는 필요가 없다.
PCFICH 또한 NR에서는 필요가 없다. control resource sets의 크기가 다이나믹하게 다양하지 않기 때문이다. 그리고 NR에서는 control resources for data의 재사용이 LTE와는 다르게 다루어진다.
